Our master gardeners have chosen plant varieties specifically for your Rise Garden. They have been selected based on their ability to thrive in a hydroponic environment and the size of the plant itself.
Our fruiting plants: Little Big Tomatoes, Fresh Bite Orange Peppers, Snackable Red Peppers
Our green leafy vegetables: Arugula, Blue Dwarf Kale, Butter Lettuce, Red Oak Lettuce, Romaine, Swiss Chard
Our herbs: Basil Genovese, Chamomile, Cilantro, Italian Parsley, Mint, Oregano, Rosemary and Thyme
Our flowers: Red Gem Marigold, Kaleidoscope Nasturtium
It turns out, this is a simple question with a complicated answer. No hydroponic produce is organic. Yes, not even the ones you buy at your local organic grocer. Even though your plants will never come in contact with pesticides, herbicides or fungicides, they are "technically" not organic.
Plants need Nitrate, Phosphorous and Potassium to grow, farmers and gardeners know it as NPK. These three elements are in the soil, but the plants can't absorb it without help. That is why manure or compost is added, to break it down into the 'elemental' form. Soil + Manure = NPK.
Hydroponic gardening has no soil, so the only way of delivering NPK is by adding it directly to the water. That means that we are technically using chemicals. But, these are the chemicals that the plants naturally need. It's the same as humans needing oxygen to breathe, H2O to drink or NaCl (common salt) to make food taste good.
When you use our nutrients, you won't be adding any harmful chemicals to your plants.
Faster growth: our plants grow 20% faster than vegetables grown in soil
Nutrient-dense: freshly picked vegetables have 10-50% more nutrients, vitamins and minerals than produce that has been warehoused and transported to a store
No harmful chemicals: since you'll be growing your plants from seeds, you'll know exactly what went into them
