How to Make Lavender Bath Bombs

How to Make Lavender Bath Bombs

Who doesn't love a relaxing bath? Today, we're using lavender from our Rise Garden to make our own bath bombs. These easy to follow instructions for making lavender bath bombs feature a few natural ingredients and a bit of time. Plus, this is a fun activity for everyone!

Lavender essential oil helps relax the mind and body making these bath bombs the perfect pre-bed time bath treat. They're also gentle enough for children. Children can even help make this recipe!

The first thing you need to do is harvest your lavender. Harvesting lavender from your garden and drying it for bath bombs or to make oils is actually very simple.

How to harvest lavender: Find the end of the stem and clip it with scissors and then lay on a dehydrator tray. This process will take about 2 hours depending on your dehydrator.

Lavender Bath Bombs Recipe

  1. Prep Time 5 min
  2. Cook Time 15 min
  3. Total Time 20 min
  4. Serves Aproximately 6 bath bombs

Equipment Needed

  • Bowl
  • Any shaped mold, even plastic Easter eggs
  • Small spray bottle

Ingredients

For the bath bomb mix:

  • 2 cups Baking soda (also called Bicarbonate of soda) (556 g)
  • 1 cup Citric acid (235 g)
  • 1 Tbsp Melted coconut oil
  • 25 drops Lavender essential oil 1/4 tsp
  • 1/2 tsp Lavender buds
  • Witch hazel in the small spray bottle

For decoration:

  • Lavender buds and/or stems

Directions

  1. Step 1 Sprinkle the decorative lavender buds and stems into the bottom of each cavity of the mold. Less is more.
  2. Step 2 Place all the ingredients except the witch hazel and second lot of lavender buds in a bowl. Use your finger tips to mix thoroughly, breaking up any lumps and fully incorporating the essential oil and liquid oil into the dry ingredients.
  3. Step 3 Spray with a few mists of witch hazel and continue mixing with your hand. Add a few more sprays and mix. Keep repeating until you can squeeze a handful of the mixture and it holds its form. You do not want the mix to be sopping wet so spray just a little at a time.
  4. Step 4 Pack the bath bomb mixture into each of the cavities of the mold. Press down firmly and leave them to harden overnight.
  5. Step 5 Push the now hardened bath bombs out of each of the cavities. You can use them right away or they will keep for at least six months if stored in an air-tight container.
